The reading club members meet once a week to enjoy reading the same book with their buddy readers.Storybooks are carefully selected from different genres to help children come out of their comfort zone of consuming similar content. Reading different storybooks gives children exposure to different writing styles, new words, unfamiliar cultural settings, and expands their worldview.
Age group: 8-10 years
The aim of the reading club is not only to read a book and move on to the next one, but also to consolidate the learnings and experiences taken from each book. To fulfil this aim, an interactive reading approach is adopted where members get to work on pre-reading, while-reading, and post-reading activities, oral or written, for every storybook. Members are also encouraged through discussions to exchange their responses with each other.
